Evaluate erupted, partially erupted, or impacted wisdom teeth with imaging and a clinical examination. When removal is indicated, our Leesburg team plans the procedure and appropriate comfort options.

Wisdom teeth are third molars that commonly develop during the late teens and early twenties. Some erupt and remain maintainable; others stay impacted or partially covered, increasing the risk of inflammation, decay, cysts, or damage to an adjacent tooth.
We use panoramic or 3D cone beam imaging when needed to evaluate tooth position, roots, sinuses, and nearby nerves. The extraction plan and sedation choice depend on anatomy, health history, symptoms, and surgical difficulty.
Extraction is recommended for patients who experience or have risk of:

Free ConsultationReal wisdom tooth extractions from patients at our Leesburg, VA office.
Wisdom teeth that have fully emerged above the gumline can be removed with a straightforward extraction under local anesthesia, similar to a routine tooth removal.
Learn MoreWhen a wisdom tooth is partially through the gum, a small incision is made to access and remove the tooth in sections, minimizing disruption to surrounding tissue.
Learn MoreFully impacted wisdom teeth are completely trapped beneath bone and gum. This requires careful surgical access using 3D imaging guidance for precise, safe extraction.
Learn MoreFor patients with dental anxiety or complex impactions, we offer IV sedation so you can sleep through the entire procedure and wake up with it already done.

What to expect from your first evaluation through a complete, comfortable recovery.
We take a cone beam CT scan to map the exact position of your wisdom teeth, root anatomy, and proximity to nerves, allowing us to plan the safest extraction approach.
Your chosen sedation is administered, nitrous oxide, oral sedation, or IV sedation, along with local anesthesia to ensure complete comfort throughout the procedure.
Depending on the impaction level, the tooth is loosened and removed whole or in sections. Surgical cases may require a small incision and bone removal for access.
The extraction site is cleaned, and dissolvable sutures are placed as needed. Gauze is applied to control bleeding and begin clot formation.
Detailed aftercare instructions and prescriptions are provided. Most patients are comfortable within 3-5 days. A follow-up visit confirms proper healing.

Free ConsultationWisdom teeth often become impacted, stuck beneath the gum or bone, or emerge at angles that cause crowding, pain, infection, or damage to adjacent teeth. Removal prevents these issues before they become more serious.
Most wisdom teeth are removed between ages 17-25, when the roots are not fully formed and recovery is typically faster. However, our team removes wisdom teeth for patients of any age when problems arise or are anticipated.
Not always. If wisdom teeth are fully erupted, properly positioned, and easy to clean, they can be monitored. We recommend removal when there is impaction, crowding, infection risk, or ongoing pain.
Most patients return to normal activities within 3-5 days. Full soft tissue healing takes 1-2 weeks. Following our post-op instructions, including diet, rest, and medications, greatly speeds recovery.
Local anesthesia and sedation options help keep you comfortable during the procedure. Post-procedure discomfort is manageable with prescribed or over-the-counter pain medication and typically improves day by day.
Yes, and it is often recommended so you go through only one recovery period. Our team evaluates each case individually to confirm this is the right approach for your anatomy and health.
Dry socket occurs when the blood clot protecting the extraction site is dislodged before healing is complete. Avoiding straws, smoking, and vigorous rinsing for the first 48-72 hours significantly reduces this risk.
Many dental insurance plans cover a portion of wisdom tooth removal, especially when medically indicated. Our front office team will verify your benefits and explain your out-of-pocket costs before the procedure.

Dr. Talwar is absolutely an expert with her prosthodontics career . She is very detailed and thorough with her explanations of her treatment plans with me. Her personal touch was far beyond expectations. With her expertise it made me feel comfortable and secure. Truly to be recommended. Her entire team is awesome. Very friendly and helpful. I also want to commend a soft spoken oral surgeon, Dr. Bhatia and his team who are also very professional, patient and considerate. Thank you all for your wonderful service and care.
Excellent Today's procedure was not as painful as the extraction procedure. I am quite thankful that this level of the entire process is behind me with no incident of concern. However, I was a bit disappointed in the support staff In that I didn't get some of the post surgery materials such as gauze to have helped me with the bleeding. Not a single gauze was put in the bag. Otherwise, everything was good.
Literally the best dentist I’ve ever been to. They’ve provided an array of services for me, from teeth whitening to wisdom teeth removal to Invisalign. ALL of my experiences have been top notch. This is the first time in my life I don’t avoid going (and even do extra things) and it’s all because of their service and level of care. I’ve referred 2 friends and all are now permanent patients.
I can’t say enough great things about Dr Talwar and Dr. Batiah and staff. They are truly amazing, caring and wonderful! I ve had a major surgery done here and I didn’t know what to expect upon waking. To my surprise I haven’t even needed to take a Tylenol! They are excellent at what they do. I highly recommend this practice.
